CBD is excellent for athletes because it is non-addictive, has no psychoactive effects (unlike THC), and relieves pain and inflammation which are normal side effects of athletic performance. Additionally, CBD has been shown to be very helpful for improving both sleep quality and duration which is another important component of health and wellness, especially for athletes. More research is needed in the area of CBD for athletes, but preliminary research is incredibly promising, as a Sports Medicine research report describes in a published clinical report, “CBD has been reported to exert a number of physiological, biochemical, and psychological effects, that have the potential to benefit athletes. For instance, there is preliminary supportive evidence for anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, analgesic, and anxiolytic actions of CBD and the possibility it may protect against GI damage associated with inflammation and promote the healing of traumatic skeletal injuries.”
